Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday start in 5 days. We decided to ask Board Shops, What they are doing to compete with department stores, chains, online megas, and direct sales?
The Easy Rider (Edmonton, AB, Canada) – We will “promote” our past seasons stock of snowboards / boots / bindings – that have been on sale for months – at the same discounts as the previous months. Just calling the sale “Black Friday”. We are not discounting new / current season product at all.
Dewey Webber Surfboards (CA) – Offering small discounts on non-surfboard products & $100 off custom board orders. We can’t compete with department stores, chains, & online megas.
Quality Surfboards (HI) – We don’t carry brands that are in big box stores. We miss out on the Christmas rush but we rely on our loyal following.
Fluid Surf Shop (FL) – I’m losing the battle…settling for leftovers.
Sweetwater (NC) – Running our own sales to draw customers to the brick and mortar side of things. Keep the interest in face to face interaction.
